Abstract. The process of pressure leaching the converter vanadium slag with waste titanium dioxide without roasting was studied. Mineralogy analysis indicates that the converter vanadium slag contains mainly three mineral phases: magnetite, titanium magnetite, and silicate phase.
vanadium–titanium magnetite is another major raw material from which to extract vanadium. China’s vanadium–titanium magnetite reserves are huge—up to 9.83 billion tons that reach mineable grade—and are therefore of high utilization value [2,3].
Titanium–vanadium slag obtained by direct reduction of titanomagnetite concentrates containing 40 wt%–50 wt% TiO 2 and 1.5 wt%–2.0 wt% V 2 O 5 is a new and promising type of raw material for both recovery of titanium and vanadium.
The extraction of vanadium and titanium were 91% and 77%, respectively, after roasting at an AS-to-vanadium slag mass ratio of 4:1 and 370 °C followed by leaching in a 6% H 2 SO 4 solution.

A hydrometallurgical process for the selective removal of silicon from titanium–vanadium slag by alkaline leaching was investigated. X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy and electron dispersive spectroscopy were used to characterize the samples.

The Medcalf project is an exciting titanium/vanadium project located in Western Australia. Unlike other titanium/vanadium projects, the Medcalf project is extremely weathered and requires hydro-metallurgical recovery instead of mineral sands style processing.

A process of NaOH molten salt roasting–water leaching to treat titanium–vanadium slag obtained by direct reduction of titanomagnetite concentrates was investigated.
In the present work, a novel process for simultaneous recovery of iron, vanadium, titanium, chromium, and manganese from vanadium slag is proposed including the chlorination of vanadium slag in molten salt and electrolysis of the salt bath.

I am a 10th grade student and I am doing a research project on the metal titanium. I am looking for any form of pollution that titanium may cause. While searching the Internet, I found out about leaching of metals. I don't know many details about this (I'm only in High School) but from what I gather

Advanced metallurgical test work has successfully produced high purity titanium dioxide and vanadium pentoxide products, the latter of which is capable of being used in vanadium flow batteries. The company envisages using an open pit mine on the central deposit and separation, leaching and precipitation processing to produce a vanadium product suitable for vanadium flow batteries.
